What is Ocular Surface Disease?
Ocular surface disease (often referred to as Dry Eye Disease) is caused when components of the tear film are not in balance. Often leading to inflammation and in many cases atrophy of the meibomian gland. Meibomian glands are oil glands along the edge of the eyelids where the eyelashes are found. These glands make oil that is an important part of the eye’s tears. The oily layer is the outside of the tear film that keeps tears from drying up too quickly. When it stops working the eyes feel dry and become irritated, causing inflammation. This inflammation and lack of moisture make dry eyes very uncomfortable. Left untreated this disease process can become auto-immune in nature and lead to vision disturbances from damage to the cornea. Meibomian Gland Dysfunction (MGD) is the leading cause of dry eye attributing to over 86% of cases and it is now treatable with Radiofrequency and IPL!
What is Radio Frequency Therapy?

emitting light flashes onto the eyelids, reducing inflammation, and stimulating meibomian glands to produce more oil for dry eye relief. Additionally, IPL eradicates
bacteria and Demodex, as well as addressing Ocular Rosacea by sealing leaky vessels, leading to reduced inflammation and redness.
What is ZEST Treatment?
Zest (Zocular Eyelid System Treatment) is like a deep shampoo for the eyes to clean and debride the lids and lashes. It is an in-office lid cleaning and debridement system using a natural okra-based gel to treat dry eye, demodex and blepharitis. Dry eye and blepharitis are often associated with poor hygiene of the eye area. The procedure is quick and painless, bringing immediate relief to symptoms of irritation and dry eye.
